Working from home is shining a light on all the improvements that could make a work from home day feel more productive than the office. To help you nail the work from home set-up in your new home we’ve got some top tips to share!

Keep reading to learn how to make the most of your study area, both before and after you build (with some cheeky work from home tips sprinkled in too).

1. Green Living

Forget what your co-workers tell you, working from home isn’t lonely. Unless you don’t have pets, of course, the ultimate distraction!

When furnishing your home, we recommend prioritising plants to your study space, or just your home in general. Copy this tip and you can amazingly spruce things up and add some energy and life to your areas too.

We love all the plants and green of the arlo, as well as the sliding doors directly out to the side yard, it livens the space up and really will help to keep you feel calm and serene.

2. Shake it Up

It’s nice to be able to work from a different spot in the house to switch up your day and avoid that afternoon slump. When designing your new home, we recommend considering the alfresco.

Another great way to shake it up is to work out of an open-plan study. The study in the Tamlee is a great example as you can sit and focus, while still keeping an eye on the kids playing outside.

3. Clear Space = Clear Mind

Clutter is a thing of the past when you choose a home design with the right storage. An office is a space where the unclassified mess of the home can naturally end up.

As cheesy as it might be, we believe that a clear space = a clear mind! And we recommend optimising your space by creating subtle storage like in the Illoura 250.

The Illoura 250 uses frosted mirrors to hide the linen closest but this ‘out of sight, out of mind’ storage idea can cross over to anywhere in your home.

4. Snack Hacks

Ok, we will be honest with you, we’re very familiar with the working from home ‘snack attack’. That craving for some sweetness mid-working day that you just can’t seem to budge.

Although we aren’t perfect, we do have some hacks to try and curb this. Planning and preparing your meals the night before your working from home day will ensure that even if you do get hungry, you won’t have to just grab whatever is nearest in sight.

Also, bonus… prepping your meals the night before won’t just help you stop snacking but will stop you from impulse spending on a meal at lunchtime!

5. Block it out

Sometimes not all of us are able to work from an open plan study – and that is perfectly ok! If you know you are prone to being distracted, opting for a study that can be shut off and separate from the rest of the house might be your best bet. Interested in designated study areas?

The Savvy Saver 240 boasts an amazingly functional separate study area. The study nook neatly finds the middle ground between being private and distraction-free, while not being boxed into a small room.

6. Boogie the (work) day away

We agree, this one does sound a bit silly at first. But hear us out, popping on some tunes whilst you’re working can help you keep it lively and fun! You might miss the chitter-chatter of an office, so having a little solo jam-sesh will definitely help you boogie the blues away.
