Our latest design is turning plenty of heads and we understand why! The styling in the Pearson display home is like no other. With bold colours, wood accents and an overall wow factor, it’s no surprise we’ve been flooded with questions about recreating this style.

Together with our Interior Designer, we have the rundown on this emerging styling influence and how to create it for yourself.

What is Mid-Century Design?

The Pearson’s interiors are inspired and influenced by Mid-Century Modern design concepts. You may be thinking what is mid-century modern? and you’re not alone ! Put simply, this concept draws on the best features of the 1940’s – 1970’s, while adding a modern twist to each element.

When you look at a home styled by mid-century modern, you may not be able to identify which era each piece is from, it’s a collaboration between old and new. The style takes bold colour inspiration from the 70’s and unique shapes from the 60’s to create a space that is fun, inviting, and unique.

This style is popular throughout bars, restaurants and hotels. With no defining rule book, this style has become popular due to its freedom and ability to marry different styles and textures together.

What features to include

Mid Century Modern styling has always been popular, which means you can always find the items you are looking for in any furniture store or interior wholesaler.  There are no right or wrong choices when it comes to this style, it comes down to personal taste and how adventurous you’re willing to be.

Ways to achieve this style:

  • Wood features: choose a dark timber for a warmer look
  • Mirrors
  • Arches and curved shapes
  • Bold pops of colour
  • Natural light & plenty of windows

You can also add varying textures throughout the home for a bold statement. This can be achieved by using natural timbers, patterns through paintings or the materials of furniture – metals, glass etc.  Try and acheive a fusion between various elements.
