Helping WIRF Reach Their Goal
Since we formed a partnership in 2017, Celebration Homes have been a strong supporter of the Woman and Infants Research Foundation (WIRF). Being one of the first companies to join WIRF under the leadership of Deb Attard Portughes, we have continued to provide support to projects with the purpose of helping local families and working to prevent preterm births. Being able to assist WIRF in their mission is an important part of our values, with so many of our clients being families, we feel it is important to provide them with more than just a home.
With preterm births as the highest cause of death & disability in young children, WIRF dedicates their time to prevention research, community awareness of preterm births, while providing support and resources to WA families.
Throughout our partnership we have supported multiple projects, our favourite being the construction of the new WIRF birthing suite in their Family Birth Centre. This was a great project as our staff could put their skills to work for a great cause
.
WIRF are at the forefront of groundbreaking research that has seen the development of an artificial womb. The end goal of providing preterm babies with the chance to better develop their lungs and other important organs before being brought into the world.
The artificial womb has been successfully used to incubate healthy baby lambs for a period of one week, and researchers hope the technology will one day be able to do the same for extremely premature babies.
We are excited to be part of this partnership with WIRF and lead the way in preterm birth prevention & research and offer our support to WIRF in their 2020 projects. If you would like to find out more about WIRF or how to contribute click here
